The Unified License Manager (ULM) and Designated License Manager (DLM) allow you to share licenses through groups.
With communication solutions that include MiCollab, MiVoice Business and optionally a standalone MiVoice Border Gateway, the systems are grouped together in the AMC under a Unified License Manager (ULM). ULMs are also assigned a Group Application Record ID that identifies the licenses that are shared (pooled) among the ULM group.
A ULM allows the AMC to distribute the individual licenses, including those contained in a UCC User License bundle, to the appropriate system server. For example, a UCC Standard User Bundle includes individual licenses for a MiVoice Business user, MiCollab applications and a MiVoice Border Gateway teleworker. Because the systems are grouped under a ULM, the AMC will distribute the appropriate licenses to each system.
Designated License Manager (DLMs) is a group that supports the sharing of licenses among MiVoice Business platforms without having to make changes to the individual application records on the AMC.
In a shared enterprise environment, one member of the application group functions as a Designated License Manager (DLM). In this role, it collects license keys and underlying system information from the AMC for all group members. The group members register with the DLM to retrieve this information, and connect to the AMC only to obtain their software release and System Core Package limits and restrictions. The DLM also provides services similar to a regular License Manager, detecting license violation events and collecting statistical information for the entire application group.
Here is an example showing the grouping of licenses through ARIDs.
The Mitel Training ULM holds
the DLM (containing two MiVoice Business servers (MCDs))
MiCollab (MAS) servers (Mitel Training - MAS1 and Mitel Training - MAS2)
MBG server (Mitel Training - MBG1) where applicable (i.e. SIP Trunking)
The Mitel Training - DLM holds two MiVoice Business Base Packages:
Mitel Training - MCD ARID
Mitel Training vMCD ARID.
